On a more mundane note, the recording is crisp and well-produced, allowing the viewer to really experience the great moments up close. Watching the live production, I saw Florez get a standing ovation that wouldn't stop until an encore (). Dessay absolutely shines in this opera - her timing and expressions are unbelievable. The staging, cast and orchestra are wonderful - I couldn't more highly recommend this version. I'm an opera enthusiast, but haven't previously owned one on DVD until this. I saw the live Met production and last year a Live in HD rebroadcast - now I have the DVD to savor. was sung - he's that amazing.
The hero was magnificent as a singer and drop dead handsome. The heroine had us laughing and also has a gorgeous voice. Altogether a delightful, charming, and beautiful performance.
is amazing now for people living in a rural setting to be able to enjoy , the art of the opera with a CDthe soprano tenor , support singers, set awesone production. The high C of the tenor very emotionantMLCampo
I also found the renditions of Regimental Rata-plan uninspired. I found the transition to more modern time and the set distracting. I compare with Dame Sutherland's performance and memories of Beverly Sills' Wolftrap rendition.
I recommend them. Along with "La Fille" I also bought the Met performance of "La Bohème." It was also an amazing performance with all the magnificent staging that the Metropolitan is famous for. One thing that surprised me was the DVD that I received from Amazon had a format of 16:9, not 1.33:1 as it was described at Amazon. Quite interesting to watch. Just to listen to Flórez sing the nine high Cs in "Ah.
These 2 operas are quite stunning. If I had known that I would have bought it a long time ago. mes amis," was a delight. I just viewed my new purchase of "La Fille du Régiment." Every singer was superb in this performance. It was pure perfection, and what a voice.
The DVD also included the back stage activity that went on during the intermission.
